I currently review toys with Jenn Choi from www.toysaretools.com  She gets the toys, has me play with them and with my clients and then I am able to give her some insight onto why I like the toy and what skills the toy addresses. Please see my input on the following toys:

WHAT:Air Storm Z-X Crossbow by Zing Toys
DOES:  opportunity to practice bilateral coordination and crossing the midline
INVEST:  $19.99 MSRP
AGES: 8 and up (successfully done with younger child with some guidance) 
TOOLS:  My Body Needs to Move, Think Like a Scientist/Engineer, Social Scene Helper (sports played along among like-minded folks help ease social setting), Lose and Win Gracefully

DOES:   practice sequencing and sharpen your visual perception: both are helpful in supporting reading skills, moving cars around is a great exercise to support core trunk stability

DOES: promotes creativity, you won't yell at them for writing on this wall, wall-writing is actually key for two VERY important academic learning skills
